D it for older teens because of the violence and the concepts are a bit hard to grasp 35Overall I enjoyed this story It reads Babys Mealtime like a sort of MG High Fantasy and Iiked the world building and how it didn t seem to be to be overly info dumpy Things were gradually The Miracle Equation laid out as they became relevant and Iiked the different perspectives we got to see through the two main characters eyesReally I think the characters were a highlight for me They were written so well so believable and relatable and they came from very different backgrounds with very different perspectives so it was nice to see the world through their eyes and also to watch their growing friendshipIt was also nice to see characters slightly out of the norm Hazel is a young albino girl and Hob is part First Nations not demographics we often see portrayed in positive The Dawn of Modern Thought lights I recall reading something once about how almost all albino characters in books and movies are evil and here we have no just a non evil albino character but a main character as wellOne of the best things about the story for me was that it wasn t entirely straight forward People soyalties were uestioned and tested and while I didn t fall for the obvious red herring I did find myself turning pages eagerly to find out exactly what was going on and who was betraying whoThe said while I enjoyed the story as I was reading it I can t say it The Infamous Ellen James (Infamous, left all that strong of an impression on me I do want to continue the series assuming the series does get continued but I could also see myself sort of forgetting about it after a few monthset alone yearsETA One thing I had wanted to mention that I forgot to was the seeming ages of the girlsThe three sisters are triplets all around 12 however Hazel was the only one who actually seemed to be roughly 12 perhaps slightly younger Isabel read closer to 15 and Violet around 18 which made Hazel seem very immature by comparison It was a bit jarring and I had to keep reminding myself that the girls are actually all meant to be the same ageI think it actually would ve worked better if all the girls were a bit older Samael Aun Weor, The Absolute Man like if they were all meant to be 15 Especially because of the things that are expected of them in this storyHob also seemed a bit older than his given age but he had a roughife and was forced to take care of his family early on so it made a ittle sense in his case This book is for grades 5 8 It reminded me of Harry Potter though I felt complex The story takes place 3000 years in the future in a world of magic and dragons So kind of a mix of high fantasy and alternate history I found this really cool I also iked the two main characters Hazel and
*hob wonderful world *Wonderful world with imps but also completely original creatures ike the kitchen hags They were my favorite Plus the dialogue was witty and clever It was just a fun book The Faeregine dynasty has been ruling Impyrium for over 3000 years with the help of magic but what the public doesn t know is that their magic is slowly becoming weaker every generation until Hazel is bornHazel the youngest in the royal family gladly spends all her free

review ImpyriumIMPYRIUM by Henry H Neff is the first book in a new fantasy series sure to knock
your socks off This YA novel boasts a hefty 585 pages of pure excitement adventure Neff creates a verysocks off This YA novel boasts a hefty 585 pages of pure excitement and adventure Neff creates a very world and as a result the story starts out slow At first all the characters the and s history and the new vocabulary can be confusing However eventually it starts to click and as a result pacing begins to pick up It is then that the book starts to become a ot of fun I #genuinely ove Hob one of the ead characters I deeply care for him and really hope that he will somehow #love Hob one of the ead characters I deeply care for him and really hope that he will somehow up in a good situation He is crafty intelligent oving and not to mention has great self preservation skills His relationship with Hazel is really special and genuinely believable as it unfolds in an innocent and natural way In fact the ast few Perfect Justice (Ben Kencaid, lines of the novel shared between these characters is perhaps the best way to button up the first book in the series I honestly cannot wait for the second installment to see how this partnership develops and where their stories go next In fact all the characters in this novel have distinctive traits and virtues The three Faeregine triplets themselves could not be different from one another Conseuently this creates conflict as each have their own opinions and views about the world which makes the story that much similar to competing personalities in realife situations The author s effort to ground these characters helps readers share an emotional understanding with them despite the fantastical elements of the book However the Faeregine sisters Violet Isabel and Hazel as well as Hob do feel much older than their ages of twelve and thirteen Of course these characters have had experience in their short The Literary Relationship of Lord Byron and Thomas Moore lives than many have had inonger ones but they still read as mature teenagers on the cusp of adulthood This problem could have been solved by making them seventeen With this the novel still would be appropriate for young audiences and still would convey the same ideas and themes Despite the age issue IMPYRIUM on a whole is a wonderful book It is the first high fantasy series I have begun that has not been so clinical in the descriptions that it Suggestions for Marketing Small Timber lost the thrill and adventure It is a story that creates a roller coaster of a ride with unexpected twists and turns that willeave the audience wanting Originally posted here No one else s opinion matteredIt was so simple one of those things a consoling parent might say and yet it contained a fundamental truth The entire world could believe in Hazel s greatness but their faith was meaningless if she didn t believe it herself Conversely the world could dismiss her ambitions but it didn t matter as New Exploration long as Hazel believed in their possibility Greatness not only started with her it could not begin anywhere elseImpyrium starts out 3000 years after a catastrophic event known as the Cataclysm changed the whole face of the earth Though it takes place on a future Earth the world is very different from our own rife with magic and fantastical creatures such as dragons imps hags fauns centaurs and other original creations of the authorIt took me a couple chapters to truly get into the story my abominableack of focus than anything I think but once I did I was captivated I m a slow reader but almost every time I picked it up I read roughly 100 pages When I got near the end I stayed up past midnight to finish I couldn t put it down and I must say it was completely worth it The climax had my heart pounding and I maybe almost cried when I read the final sentence is an emotional potatoWHAT I LOVED The story is gripping well paced and has some fine twists The characters are complex and multifaceted and not all of them are as they seem The worldbuilding is wonderfully rich and detailed and the magic system is thoroughly developed I found the part where Hazel is explaining magic and how it works to Hob to be uite fascinating The descriptions are good and the prose is clear though not overly simple in a juvenile way Indeed in my opinion this read similar to a YA book It s mature than most middlegrade despite the mc s ages being 13 and I enjoyed that The dialogue is often witty and clever There were several words that I didn t know and had to ook up which usually only happens with adult books or classics As for the main characters Hob is probably my favorite though I iked Hazel a ot too It took a bit for her to grow on me but she turned out to be a brilliant character And I adore their friendship The part where Hob is explaining to Hazel how she can do the transformation spell she just hasn t given herself permission yetI oved that part Failure scares some people so badly they forget what they re even trying to do They re not trying to succeed at something they re just trying not to fail Sigga Fen Assassinsspecial agents are awesome At east ones with a personality beyond their weapons and remarkable comba. In the first book of Henry Neff’s new high stakes middle grade fantasy series two unlikely allies the Faeregine princess Hazel and the servant boy Hob confront a conspiracy that will shake the world of Impyrium to its coreFor over three thousand years the Faeregine dynasty has ruled Impyrium But the family’s magic has been fading and with it T skills Sigga does not disappoint in this regard I really iked "Her Character Every Time "character every time showed up I think she might be my favorite besides Hob She s just so coolA gust of wind screamed into the tent so swift and strong it nearly blew out the fire The wind became a shadow And the shadow became Sigga Fenn Not today Not tomorrow Not for all the gold in Impyrium Aghhh my heart You will understand when you read the book WHAT I DID NOT LOVE I think some of the characters ages should have been pushed up For instance I repeatedly
Forgot That Isabel Violet Andthat Isabel Violet and are triplets because their maturity evels were so varying They are supposed to be 13 but Isabel seems The Hockey Saint (Forever Friends, like she s ateast 1817 and Violet 1716 Hazel is the only one of them who struck me as acting Valentino like a 13 year old As for Hob I think he seemed about 15 rather than 13 Neff couldn t have gone wrong with a bit editing There s repeated words sometimes or sentencesike His friend s smiled wavered These flaws aren t everywhere but they do show up here and there and it s a et down because the storycharacters are excellent and it was jarring for me to come upon these sort of mistakes while immersed in reading Despite them I iked the book very much I probably would have been bothered if it had been otherwise But still This is sloppy and unprofessional and cannot be excused I would expect better from an author who wrote and published five other books before ImpyriumHowever I can honestly say that Impyrium is a great in spite of it s slight Shunned lack of editing and Ioved it and absolutely recommend It s not a story you want to miss out on believe me Particularly if you are a fan of fantasy magic political intrigue compelling characters and amazing worldbuilding Content warning for those it may concern At a concert one of the princess s favorite activities is scanning the people below the balcony where she sits for scandal and she mentions a Craving (Willow Creek, lord touching a woman inappropriately and she and her sisteraugh about it A girl is described as having a tendency to appear in a boy s better dreams The master of unpredictable plot twists and perfect world building strikes again If I had to make a comparison Impyrium is a combination of Downton Abbey Frozen and the Targaryen bits of Game of Thrones with steampunk flair but it is uniuely its own I ve put off reading this for a bit because I thought nothing could touch the near perfection of its predecessor The Tapestry Series Like Tapestry this is an example of fantasy at its best I didn t get into this book right away I often get thrown off by fantasy worlds that take place in our future and drop in hints of our world I m getting invested in this fantasy infused society and then suddenly the characters are watching an old Disney movie But these details ultimately are woven into the fabric of a whole Oba, the Last Samurai lot of intricate worldbuilding Impyrium feelsike a fully fleshed out world full of sniffing hags don t ask secret revolutions catty noble families ancient dragons underwater demon cities sassy homonculiand so much The plot moves a Yonen Buzz, Volume 1 (Yonen Buzz, long at a brisk pace and containsots of action and surprises along the way I guessed some character s motivations right away but ater on I would start to doubt myself the narrative plays with the complicated issues of right and wrong and who to trust and the characters and readers are often in the same place Hob has pretty strong convictions about what he d ike the world to be but the answer of how it should be done and who should do it remains a twisty mystery I thought this The Wood Demon level of nuance added complexity to the world and plot and there s some interesting discussion of economics and social dynamics and ineuality There s much to explore in seuelsThe main characters were compelling and their growing friendship builds in a sweet and realistic way Hazel took aittle First Shapes longer to grow on me at the beginning she s fairlyazy and hard to connect with But she uickly shifted into an engaging bright character and as she comes across truths about herself and her world her growth is great to watch Hob is a smart and vibrant character and his uips and antics even in situations Dispatches from Dystopia like dramatic duels made me chuckle Even the side characters who seemike they re going to be one note the stoic assassin the grumpy governess end up being multifacetedA fast paced but nuanced adventure through a detailed magical world 45 because the romance killed meeeeeThis book was really good There was tons of action at the end but the beginning was slow It started to pick up when view spoiler Hazel and Hob crossed paths hide spoiler Appropriate for age 13I Max and the Tom Cats (More Bob Books for Young Readers, Set II, Book 8) loved this book so much I stayed upate 5 nights in a row just so I could finish it I Ancient World liked both main characters aot The magic had some new interesting elements to it The mystery was very compelling No swear words yay but it has pseudo swear words such as the B word for illegitimate child I recommen. Heir power over the empire Whether it’s treachery from a rival house the demon Lirlanders or rebel forces many believe the Faereginese are ripe to fallHazel the youngest member of the royal family is happy to Fighter leave ruling to her sisters so that she can study her magic But the Empress has other plans for her granddaughter dark and dangerous plans.
