And Gray Laura Is An Gray Laura is an book blogger who is married to a successful author Graye is a grad student with aspirations of being an author and a dark past Neither of these characters were tremendously likable and I had a hard time connecting with them I felt as though neither of them really let the reader see inside As a rule I am a fan of unlikable characters but I need them to be completely fleshed out I felt as though Laura and Graye were always keeping me at arms length this might have been by design but it kept me disconnected In spite of this I could not put this book down I needed to know where it was going This was one of those books that kept zigging and zagging swirving all over the place I never knew what was coming next Enthralling unsettling and ultimately satisfying710 many thanks to Lake Union for my copy of this book 35 rounded up to 4Aspiring author Graye Templeton will do anything to scape the horrific childhood crime that haunts her After a life lived in shadows she s accepted a new job as a prot g to Laura West influential book blogger and wife of acclaimed novelist Laura s connections could make Graye s publishing dreams a reality But there s to Laura than meets the Zack (Areion Fury MC eyeThis is the first book that I have read by the author and I can honestly say that I did not know what I was going to get out of the book I wasn t disappointed This is a multilayered read that dark and makes you uestion who you really are Just when you think you know where the storyline is going you will find that your wrong This is a well written thought provoking readI would like to thank NetGalley Lake Union Publishing and the author Eliza Maxwell for my ARC inxchange for an honest review The Shadow Writer by Eliza Maxwell is a book that I will probably read again because there is so much going on in this novel that a second read would be beneficial Graye Templeton is a woman whose childhood was marred by a terrible crime that was so notorious that her name had to be changed to protect her She is hired as an assistant to Laura West a well known book blogger whose husband is a famous author The women uickly develop a strong friendship Upon moving to a Texas island in a guesthouse next door to her Shadow on the Crown (The Emma of Normandy Trilogy, employer s home she soon realizes that the husband is a bitter drunk whose career is floundering She took the job in the hope that Laura would help promote her book that she had worked on for many years From this point there will be suspected adultery a brutal murder spousal abuse and mysteries galore Nothing will be as it seems This is a slow boiling thriller that willasily hold your attention The Shadow Writer is the first Eliza Maxwell book that I have read and I look forward to reading her other titles Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the ContamiNation e ARC inxchange for an honest review I was really disappointed in this one because I actually liked the author s other book The Unremembered Girl The characters just fell flat which is a shame because there was a pretty decent backstory for Graye As the story progressed I cared less and less about Taxi ins Glück each person It s like the book had the basiclements of what should be an interesting story but lacked any meat and therefore came across as lackluster Graye Templeton has tried to move on from her horrific childhood and aspires to be a writer She takes a job working for Laura West a fairly well known book blogger and wife to a novelist who has had his own fair share of success As Graye and Laura become. Med novelist Laura’s connections could make Graye’s publishing dreams a reality But there’s to Laura than meets the yeBehind the veneer of a charmed life Laura’s marriage is collapsing Her once lauded husband is descending into alcoholism and ruin and bringing Laura nearer to the. .

"Intrigued Unfortunately It Slowed Down "Unfortunately it slowed down I started to lose interest The characters were all rather unlikeable all out to get what they could from Losing My Virginity and Other Dumb Ideas each other I had hoped for from this book but it fell a bit flat for me A decentnding thoughGraye Templeton had a horrific childhood one that she hoped to scape and put behind her She gets a job working with Laura West a blogger "And Influential Name In "influential name in publishing industry She hopes to use her connections for herself to get herself published Laura s marriage is falling apart and is hiding many secrets I struggled to connect with this story and the characters It wasn t for me as much as I tried Thanks to Lake Union Publishing and Netgalley for my advanced copy of this book to read All opinions are my own and are in no way biased Favorite uotesShe signs the visitor s log and the receptionist passes her a neon green sticker to affix to her shirt Proof that Graye isn t some rogue criminal there to ravish old ladies and steal pieces from the jigsaw puzzlesShe stares at him for a beat struggling to remind herself of the man she knows he can be when he isn t being this one It s getting difficult very day to bring that man

some good plot twists but the book could use some polishing up Both the plot and the characters need togood plot twists but the book could use some polishing up Both the plot and the characters need to well developed in order to make a book a compelling read and that just didn t happen here So basically in summary it had potential but the xecution fell shortThank you to the Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a free advance digital copy in Invisible (The Curse of Avalon exchange for an honest review I ve read all of Eliza Maxwell s books and was in love with The Unremembered Girl which stayed with me for weeks with the ache I felt for the main character still in my memory today Injoyed this book also although it has a lighter feel for me Yummy Supper even though the subject matter deals with murder manipulation and lies The chapters are from the point of view of Graye Templeton Laura West and a few characters Graye had an abusive lonely childhood that included the murder of her mother when Graye was nine years old Graye was then raised in an orphans home that included a kind nun that did her best to protect Garyncourage her to come out of her shell and pursue her interest in writing Sprinkled throughout Graye s life was the loss 35 well that was unexpected starsGraye Templeton wants two things in life first to scape her truly horrific past and second to become an author She wants to be real and seen and knows that the best way to achieve this goal is to publish the book she s been working on for some time When Graye lands the job as a TA to the best selling author and now professor at her university David West she feels like the tides are finally turning and luck is sure to follow When Graye accidentally bumps into and subseuently pours her coffee all over famed book blogger and wife to David Laura The Shadow Writer by Eliza Maxwell is a 2019 Lake Union publication Graye Templeton wants to be a writer but she also needs to live under the radar while she distances herself from an unbelievably shocking childhood However it seems that luck is finally shining on Graye when she backs into a dream job working for Laura West a star blogger who has catapulted authors from obscurity to bestsellers Now if Graye can only get Laura to realize she is not only a great assistant but a promising author as well Laura takes an instantaneous liking to the vulnerable and worshipful Graye Templeton She is just the bright light she needs in her life after her insecure husband David a famous one hit wonder she single handedly made famous becomes mbittered drinking to Deep Listening excess nearly teetering on thedge of a full blown breakdown The two women forge a strong bond while David does verything in his power to undermine the friendship But Graye desperately needs Laura s reputation and xpertise to realize all her hopes and dreams before her past comes home to roost This is a solid thriller centered around fixation and obsession These themes are often overused staples in psychological thrillers and are hardly original In fact I was concerned this book was about to take an all too familiar path as well one I ve traveled down many times before However the story proved to be atmospheric with a few interesting and surprising plot twists which kept me interested and maybe a bit on Evolution, Me Other Freaks of Nature edge I will warn readers however that the characters are notasy to like but to me that is part of what made the novel so ffective and why the conclusion worked so well The plot is not always completely plausible and that s okay but the depiction of human nature and the character s self absorption and manipulations were uite realistic which is why this story is so disturbing Overall this was a nice introduction to Eliza Maxwell for me I have been curious about her books so now I will have to check out of her work in the future 4 stars. EdgeAs the two women form a bond that seems meant to be long buried secrets claw their way into the present and the line between friendship and obsession begins to blur forcing ach to decide where her loyalties lie Running from the past is a dangerous game and the loser could nd up dea. .
